BSD City, April 20, 2021 — Sinar Mas Land always supports the education ecosystem in BSD City. During its transformation into the first integrated smart digital city, many education centers and higher education institutions have started operating in the township, making BSD City a digital talent pool. Universitas BINA NUSANTARA (BINUS) supports the company by expanding its campuses to various locations to teach more students.
BINUS has bought a 1.4-hectare land at Digital Hub to build the upcoming BINUS campuses. The purchase agreement was signed by BINUS and Sinar Mas Land in March 2021. Today, BINUS offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programs, and so far has had 177,454 students and graduates called BINUSIAN throughout the country. With a Fostering and Empowering spirit, BINUS contributes to Indonesian higher education by opening campuses in Tangerang, Bekasi, Bandung, Malang, and Semarang.
Chief of Digital Tech Ecosystem and Development of Sinar Mas Land Irawan Harahap gladly welcomed BINUS within BSD City Digital Hub. “BINUS opening its doors at Digital Hub hopefully will make this ecosystem more complete in terms of providing quality talents. We hope all the Digital Hub’s facilities can further support the BINUS’ teaching and learning activities, provide business opportunities for the students, and pave the way for a higher education for the residents of BSD City and beyond,” says Irawan.
BINUS Chief Operating Officer Stephen Wahyudi Santoso expressed his support for choosing BSD City for the campus location. “The BSD City Digital Hub’s concept is very supportive and aligned with our vision of becoming ‘A world class university, fostering and empowering the society in building and serving the nation’. We will provide innovative, creative, applicative, and relevant studying experience and research, so we can give concrete solutions to the people’s problems. We acknowledge the BSD City’s comprehensive facilities as an independent city, especially its Digital Hub which has a complete ecosystem to support education centers, businesses, and digital industries,” he said.
BINUS Managing Director Michael Wijaya Hadipoespito welcomed the collaboration between BINUS and Digital Hub in BSD City. “BSD City Digital Hub, which works with partners of various industries such as multinational companies, unicorns, e-commerce, digital and technology startups, as well as education centers, can create good collaboration opportunities to encourage more contributions to the education development, digital ecosystem empowerment, and digital economy in Indonesia,” he said.
BSD City Digital Hub, an area dedicated to the education institutions, communities, startups, and multinational corporations in technology and digital industry, is the BINUS campus’ newest location. This development is part of the BSD City’s transformation into the first integrated smart digital city. BSD City owns some advanced facilities, including fiber optic networks and a traffic monitoring system integrated with the Traffic Command Center. The township always attempts to develop products and public facilities relevant to everyone's current and future needs. It is easily accessible by the Jakarta-Serpong tollway which is linked to the JORR, Jakarta-Merak and Kunciran-Serpong, airport tollways, and other tolls on Java Island. In addition, those relying on public transportation can also reach BSD City by Royaltrans bus serving the BSD City-Stasiun MRT Lebak Bulus route and by commuter line train that stops at Cisauk Train Station at the BSD City’s Intermoda area.
